usb-memory-drivers (Users)

my experience:

1) I still use the (old) Mahiru/Panasonic driver: it works fine & easy with
on-board usb ports and on ext. usb ports-cards - BUT only with flash memory not over 2 gb ( I'd probe kingston and Sandisk ). Doesn't read the ext. usb HD

2) WITH FLASH MEMORY UPPER 2gb ( EX, cruzer blade 4 gb) I use dosusb20
from Potthast, working fine with ext. usb HD too - but only in usb
on mainboard.

-- in 1) and 2) desappears the cd/dvd letter

3) with USBEXFAT driver I can load flash memory upper 2 gb, the cd/dvd letter
doesn't disappear - BUT only in on-board Usb ports.

4) instead I am not able to work with Bretus driver: anytimes seems to load,
but ususlly I have to reboot.

I'd probe the drivers in different PC/MAIN/CHIPSETS but always with the same result

regards andrea

I also have this problem and IIRC there are cca 1'000'000'000 mails I exchanged with Georg on this subject ... including both "I'll fix it" as well as "I won't fix it" answers ... anyway, there are options to exclude controllers to bypass this problem, RTFM and make sure to set some of them to prevent attempts to use both UHCI and OHCI at same time.

BTW, what about the other (simpler) issues pending in the UHCI/OHCI/EHCI version of DOSUSB? Any further update (YES ... I've seen your other project)?

Hi Andrea,

if the motherboard has UHCI controllers and the extension board OHCI controllers (or the other way around) the extension board will not work with DOSUSB. I did not expect both UHCI/OHCI controllers on the same PC when writing DOSUSB and now it will be quite a lot of work for a small user base to get that to run.

If the CD/DVD drive letter disappears it may have to do with the CD/DVD driver you use and how that installs in the device driver chain. If you load usbdisk.sys before the CD/DVD driver this may solve the problem.

Georg
