FLAC v1.3.2 recently released (Announce)

And if WavPack (below) doesn't float yer boat as a lossless audio compressor, recently-released FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) v1.3.2 command-line encoder/decoder also still works with HX runtime:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/flac/files/flac-win/

FLAC.EXE also will use long filenames if a LFN driver has been loaded.

MPXPlay also can play .FLA files directly.

In my experience, WavPack offers somewhat-better compression than FLAC, but both are in the same ballpark.

@ Doug

FLAC v1.3.2 port for DOS

I was able to make a DOS port of FLAC (configured under Linux, disabled UTF8 support and new CPU optimizations). Binaries are here: http://rayer.g6.cz/download/download.htm#FLAC and sources as usual: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg-x264-dos/files
