This link leads only to a captcha page, which requires javascr***.
Links with javascr*** also fails to get through to the .zip.

HTF does one get to download links281.zip in DOS ?????

> Good test at all!

I will when it becomes accessible to DOS !!!!

Later:

Which I have now done ! It took SW14.1 to access it.

You can now grab it from http://www.ausreg.com/files/
no captcha, no js, DOS friendly !

Links281 seems OK, from short tests so far.

Seems to handle image-laden pages significantly faster than previous versions of Links, and that IS worth the effort.

Will keep trying to break it. :)

Well, it hasn't broken yet. This one's a keeper. :)

Are you able to download anything from that URL using DOS/links
or any other DOS browser that does not have JavaScript capability ?

It seems that it's only those of us outside of the

COOL :-) It does something ...

delete/cervdl09i (shot may work badly, try follow link and view image separately)

+ Can login into FASM forum
+ Can upload files

Problems (maybe I don't know how to use it correctly):

* desperately broken OpenSSL 1.0.1e (but doesn't really matter in this case)
* successful downloads don't appear in the download list
* doesn't auto-update the page when necessary (after login for example) ... same problem as in Arachne and DOSLynx
* keyboard acts strangely (???)
* some connection errors for no reason
* no TFM included (but it's built-in)

This may not be what you meant, but there is an "auto refresh" setting in Views/html options/

YES I found it :-)

The editor is broken (CTL-C, arrows, etc ...) but otherwise it worxx perfectly. No crash after 20 min, upload seems to work (no progress indicator, but Fire-Fox has the same BUG too), referer tuning, agent tuning, I can post in some forums, ...

The download box seems to show only active downloads, not the succesfully completed ones.

+ text and graphical browser in one (see shots)
+ worxx in DOS (see shot)
+ one single standalone executable
+ not a single crash or hanger yesterday or today
+ HUGE rat arrow (see shot)
+ HTTPS/SSL (oops, forgot to test)
+ FTP (oops, forgot to test)
+ background downloads (oops, forgot to test)
+ control by commandline possible (oops, forgot to test)
+ HTTP file upload (not thoroughly tested)
+ supports UTFG-8 and can display many faulty char's (see shot)
+ unsupported char's display a HUGE BUG (see shot)
+ support by mail (got mail from Roberto)
+ referer tuning
+ agent tuning
+ text size and layout tuning
+ free and open source (C, one CPP file, comments partially in Czech language???)
+ uses binary units of bloat
+ has had a Wipkipedia page since 2001 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Links_(web_browser)&oldid=358834611
+ it's cool

# uses WatTCP
# 1'000'000'000'000 silly languages all built-in into one executable (Fire-Fox provides 1'000'000'000'000 separate installers per 30 MiB of bloat)

- no TFM included (only built-in)
- auto-refresh is OFF by default
- keyboard acts strangely, very broken CTL-C (???)
- semi-broken scrolling and editing (???)
- text size change only through menu, no CTL+ & CTL-
- rat wheel not supported
- no progress indicator for upload (but Fire-Fox has the same BUG too)
- desperately broken OpenSSL 1.0.1e (but doesn't really matter in this case)
- successfully completed downloads don't appear in the download list
- download sometimes fails due to bad filename, still manual editing possible
- some connection errors for no reason (there is an "auto-retry" feature hidden somewhere ...)

I don't have any stability problems with Roberto's binaries so far.

I didn't look at that .ZIP too closely. The .EXE looks fairly big (12 MB?), must still have debug info. Though in order to mirror it properly it needs all the other files. But I realize this isn't an official release.

Looks decent.

> The editor is broken (CTL-C, arrows, etc ...)

What editor? What is it supposed to do? You mean input in general, dialog box, etc.?

I know you always like to upload stuff, and sometimes I guess filling out forms is necessary. But I think it's a given that most people (esp. the few DOS browser devs) don't care for testing such functionality. :-( In other words, things like that I just always assume won't work. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.

> The download box seems to show only active downloads, not the succesfully

Presumably having the actual file is proof enough! :-P

> + text and graphical browser in one (see shots)

This isn't new, the last 2.8 release from a few months ago already had this, but you had to specify "-g 800 600" (or whatever) else it defaulted to text only.

> + worxx in DOS (see shot)

Which is the whole point. And yes, I know, you always rag on me for wasting time on NTVDM, DOSEMU, etc. Though I only have a working packet driver under VirtualBox, and I hardly ever use it.

> + one single standalone executable

Mostly good, might be harder to update though.

> + supports UTFG-8 and can display many faulty char's (see shot)

I didn't look, I assume this is just fonts borrowed from GRX. Though I don't remember that supporting Latin-3 (E-o). EDIT: Wikipedia says the fonts are inline grayscale .png files.

> + unsupported char's display a HUGE BUG (see shot)

Irish looks unsupported, of all things. Probably can't be hard to fix. But I don't grok it, so ....

> + free and open source (C, one CPP file, comments partially in Czech
> language???)

Are you sure? I don't see any mention of GPP*.ZIP in Mikulas' DJGPP packages mirror (all-packages/). In other words, I don't think C++ is required here at all, but I haven't tried.

> + has had a Wipkipedia page since 2001
> http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Links_(web_browser)&oldid=358834611

Hmmm, I thought it was an old (heavily modified) fork of Lynx, but here doesn't seem to mention that. Though it does say Elinks spun off from it.

You mean NLS / i18n or just fonts?

> - keyboard acts strangely, very broken CTL-C (???)

__djgpp_set_ctrl_c

I don't see how that would be transparent. I'm not aware of a lot of libs having such support. Obviously this isn't FBC. Though Blair did port GPM a while back (I think).

You mean due to (lack of) LFNs or something else?

> ? CSS
> ? HTML5

All the ultra modern bloat probably won't work.

> ? Uploading of huge files

Probably depends on libc (2.04?) or DOS (EDR?).

> ? There seem to be 2 branches: 1.xx and 2.xx (???)

Is 1.x still maintained? Doubt it.

A while back, I did mirror these binaries to iBiblio. It also still has M.K.'s old 2.1 from 2008.

YES. :-)

I mean "file" vs "fichier" vs "berkas"etc.

It worx for Arachne.

YES.
