Forum software update (version 1.5.4 -> 1.7.6) (Announce)

Concerning latest junk mails sent out to forum members I had to face the truth: This forum software was outdated. :-|

I was still running version 1.5.x from 2006. I did this intentionally, because I made several in-depth changes to the scripts/database layout, which made updating very hard. One change added a math CAPTCHA for guest postings. This is no longer required as I had to disable anonymous users already in November 2007. But today we need a CAPTCHA for the contact form. This feature, along many others, has been integrated in version 1.7.0 of "my little forum" (mlf).

With respect to security I decided to update to the latest version today. This site is now running vanilla mlf 1.7.6. It still contains all settings, posts, and images from the previous version, but all features added by me are "lost" for now.

So if you run into troubles, please drop a note here and I'll see, what I can do for you. :-)

Note to people linking to a particular category: You have to turn, e.g., "...category=DOSX" to "category=8".

Well done. More security is always good. Having the page view controls in a single cluster is nice too.

I've already re-enabled:
1) added {d} tag for "strikethrough"
2) improved BBCode decoding for e-mail notifications
3) improved {code} tag parsing

Right after upgrading I got another nasty spam mail from an IP belonging to the Vodafone network in Hesse (Germany). I configured some bad words now.

That's no bug in the new version. I just turned this feature off to prevent "red pollution".
