DOSBox-X 0.83.21 released! (Announce) |
DOSBox-X 0.83.21 has now been released! Designing to be a cross-platform DOS emulator, it is the goal of DOSBox-X to cover different types of DOS software, and also intends to implement accurate emulation, accurate enough to help make new DOS developments possible with confidence the program will run properly on actual DOS systems.
DOSBox-X provides official DOS versions in addition to other platforms. You can now download the latest packages for both HX-DOS and LOADLIN builds for DOSBox-X 0.83.21 from the DOSBox-X project homepage:
https://dosbox-x.com/
There are quite a few new features and other improvements in this latest version, and you can find the release notes for this version (containing the change history) here:
* https://dosbox-x.com/release-0.83.21.html
The DOS packages are self-contained so that you can simply unzip the file and type DOSBOX-X to run in DOS. It is confirmed to work in DOS, and read the included README.TXT file for more information.
Happy New Year 2022! |

It won't start because it's missing WINSPOOL.DRV from the previous release. Grabbing that one file and putting it in place seems to work fine, though. Just FYI. |

The HX-DOS package for this version was originally uploaded by joncampbell123 rather than myself. I tested earlier by extracting the files to the existing installation, and it worked for me because the WINSPOOL.DRV file already existed in the directory. I have already re-uploaded the package with the said file included. Thanks for the feedback. |

Thanks for the new version!
I had no problem as I only use the executable from your packages (keepeng the changelog and readme as well) with my common HX package. By the by, did anybody happen to get the source code from Ruslan Starodubov of his AU-extended dll files? Pádár Attila still updates MPXPlay regularly and I would like to add his improvements to Starodubov's product, I think it is only one of his 3 DLL's. Not to mention that he failed to add the code for the HDA internal speaker support, that's most likely the same file. I don't have the knowledge to port the new MPXPlay code to HX by myself, nor the time to get the required knowledge, but moving an updated part from somewhere into an almost identical code might be possible for me. But Ruslan seems to have disappeared. The more improved MPXPlay's HDA support gets, the more DPCI.DLL gets left behind. That's wasn't ever perfect by the way. --- DOS isn't about why. It's about why not. |

Dosbox-X is indeed great project. However, is possible to create a HX-DOS friendly build of the SCUMMvm engine?
It would be really nice... --- DOS-u-akbar! |
