Free Pascal version 2.2.2 released (Announce)

The definitive version has now been released. Changes with 2.2.2rc2 should be zero for Dos. (the only fixes were win32/win64 and another win64 specific)

----

The Free Pascal team is pleased to announce that version 2.2.2 is
released and available for download for all major platforms:
(in alphabetical order)

Dos, FreeBSD, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2, Windows, Windows CE

For different CPU types and both in 32 and 64 bit versions where applicable.

Version 2.2.2 is the new stable version. It contains mostly bugfixes,
and selected backported features. No major new features are introduced.

Version 2.2.2 also has a cleanroom implementation of some routines that
were suspected of copyright infringement. You are urged to upgrade to
this new version to avoid possible copyright issues.

Finally, the documentation has been revised completely and was brought
up-to-date, so it describes the current compiler and RTL behaviour as
closely as possible.

You can download your copy from the usual location:

http://www.freepascal.org/download.var

A list of major changes is available on

http://wiki.freepascal.org/User_Changes_2.2.2

If you download from a mirror, you may have to wait a couple of days
for the mirror to pick up the new version.

Enjoy,

The Free Pascal team.

1) Still says "2.0.4 only" for the DOS target.
2) http://www.freepascal.org/down/i386/go32v2-ftp.freepascal.org.var also says 2.0.4.
3) ftp://ftp.hu.freepascal.org/fpc/dist/i386-go32v2-2.2.2/ also looks outdated.

Noted. Probably because it skipped a release, it isn't automatic via scripts like the rest.

No, that is possible; the final 2.2.2 was tagged on wednesday the 30th in the late evening. I also built (FreeBSD) that thursday.

Hmm, that was my browser cache. It was already fixed meanwhile. I'm now running a script that will forcedly update some mirrors too.

Free Pascal version 2.2.2 released

Why the hell you didn't include my patches from bugs 11679 and 11699?

Well, I can't even test on pure dos, so I wouldn't touch 11699. 11679 is mostly committed, (see comment) but after the freeze.

Currently, there is already an handful of post 2.2.2 IDE bugfixes. None of them dramatic, but....
