send mail from DOS (Users) |
Hi, can I have question, how to send mail by standallone SMTP server from DOS?
Does it exist some sendmail or SMTP server which can send mail from command line in DOS > from Mutt or Arachne in pure DOS ?
EDIT by rr: changed subject from "send_mail_from_DOS" |

I think there is a DOS SMTP server in EZNOS. You will have to compile the sources yourself, because mail server is not enabled by default (IIRC). EZNOS also has a lot of other services like http, pop, ftp, ... When running you can shell out to DOS and send the mail (it should work, EZNOS also has some multitasking built-in). The only problem I think is that it uses a lot of RAM - not much will be left for a mail client. |

Why would you need a complete SMTP server? Just talk SMTP commands to your provider's SMTP server. This should even work with pure TELNET: How to Use Telnet to Test SMTP Communication or XFOR: Telnet to Port 25 to Test SMTP Communication

Mutt or Arachne talk SMTP. No need for an SMTP server on DOS. --- Forum admin |

Yes, it conteins gcc support for linux so it should compile with ncurses

Thank you for your idea with telnet, I can`t use any server for sending mails from my Internet provider due to SPAM, I use own sendmail on Debian, but I would like to send messages from pure DOS, or I have to build smtp server on my local NET. MUTT or ARACHNE call smtp servers of providers of Internet but this is for me unreachable |

If you would like 32 bit version perhaps KA9Q NOS is better. |

Could be done even better: SendMailFromDosEx
Still, I prefer david's posts from "some" other ones, even with evil underscores --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here
