How to easily mount ISO images? (Users) |
I don\t know how to comfortable mount .ISO images.
I use for it the SHSUCDHD utility by Jason Hood.
There is no problem when I don't have MSCDEX or SHSUCDX installed.
In first step I load .ISO by SHSUCDHD and in the second step I make it visible from DOS by SHSUCDX.
The problem occurs when SHSUCDX is already installed and resides in high memory.
1) SHSUCDX isn't able to mount new devices on the fly - only when start
2) It is not possible to load another instance of SHSUCDX when already running
3) It is not possible to unload SHSUCDX when stays in high memory.
Does anybody have any solution? --- DOS-u-akbar! |

What OS/Emulator are you seeing these issues under? FreeDOS? Also what OS/emulator/utilities versions are you using? Are they the latest versions? As the issue you are experiencing might have been resolved with recent updates.
I am not that familiar with SHSUCDX myself, however http://johnson.tmfc.net/dos/shsucdx.html appears to have the latest versions together with an excellent version history/differences of the various versions of SHSUCDX. Earlier/alternative versions: http://adoxa.110mb.com/shsucdx/ + http://www.shsu.edu/~csc_jhm/
FreeDos help page for SHSUCDHD to aid resolution. (note: last updated in 2008 which predates latest versions)
Note: we have the pleasure of RR (our BTTR host) and Jack on here, however as above I think it would be helpful to all if you could provide more version info. Thanks ! |

I use FreeDOS on real hardware (no virtualization), latest SHSUCDX variant named SHCDX33D and the latest SHSUCDHD. --- DOS-u-akbar! |

Thanks. FreeDOS version? Latest?
> latest SHSUCDX variant named SHCDX33D and the latest SHSUCDHD.
Ok, latest version of SHSUCDX appears to be SHCDX33E / V3.03E (2009-07-09).
It would appear that at least one of your issues is fixed with that update
Quoting README.TXT contained within the latest distribution file shcdx33e.zip
V3.03E - 9 Jul, 2009
- SHCDX33E /I switch added, per user request.
.
.
/I - Install
Normally SHCDX33E will refuse to install if it detects another redirector
(such as MSCDEX). This option will cause SHCDX33E to install anyway.
I am NOT currently using SHSUCDHD myself and as I am busy with other things I might not be able to help you much further on this problem at the moment - so hopefully someone else more familiar with SHSUCDHD will also respond. I will keep an close eye on this thread though as it is of particular interest to me. |
