COOL
> The DOS version is also freeware now! Big thanks Martin!
So previously only the non-DOS versions were freeware ?
Well, some more serious tests in DOS :
- It is low-memory-hoggy. It works in both FreeDOS and EDR-DOS only if DOS is HIGH and there is no unnecessary stuff loaded.
- Mouse doesn't work:
> Ver. 1.2 &
> Total NEW design, "User friendly", mouse support own fonts...
> Ver. 2.22
> Released: Jan-10-1996
> Fixed a mouse bug
> Ver. 2.50
> Released: May-06-1996
> Created Roll-Up menus + mouse support + hotkeys for them
> (pretty hard work in assembler )
No mouse support removal mentioned ...
- Some minor "broken graphics" or "shows garbage" issues
- TFM is outdated:
> 2. Report file ("-r" switch) [REGISTERED VERSION ONLY]
> 3. Short report file ("-s" switch) [REGISTERED VERSION ONLY]
- Some incomplete/wrong detections ??? --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here

Martin made the following post on the HWiNFO forum ( http://www.hwinfo.com/forum/ ) on Tue Jun 08, 2010 when he released 5.5.0:
Starting with version 5.5.0 HWiNFO for DOS has become completely FREEWARE !

This doesn't seem to be the BUGzilla.

HWiNFO32 became freeware in v2.10 (Jul-22-2008) |

Agreed. Basically the answer was fairly well hidden in history.txt file supplied with the HWiNFO32 or online on this page - HWiNFO32 became freeware in v2.10 (July-22-2008). HWiNFO32 is now on version v3.58. As per earlier reply HWiNFO (DOS) only became freeware in June this year.
> This doesn't seem to be the BUGzilla.
LOL! Martin seems fine for HWiNFO/HWiNFO32 bug reports to be submitted either via email or the forum (it would appear the preferred option): http://www.hwinfo.com/forum/
I submitted 2 minor issues via the forum yesterday which have already been acknowledged. Also worth noting that a HWiNFO32 SDK exists as a way to support Martin's good work.
Does anyone know if a DOS HWiNFO SDK ever existed? I may ask on his forum.
> Does the mouse work for you ?
To be honest I haven't yet tried but having read various docs I am sure it should be working ok, so might be worth filing a quick bug report to Martin on his forum. I want to be in a better position to do quick tests of things like this, unfortunately I'm not in that position at the moment :( As John Lennon put it:
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Darkened room typo :) The date was correct....

"Hidden" in the sense that it required a search of history.txt for "freeware" to find

I know where you are coming from. Post here and I'll happily post a link to your report if you like. Although to be honest pretty painless sign-up process. |

FYI, as not a single DOS'ser bothered to test within almost 3 months, I moved the BUG discussion into private mail with the author he is very friendly and willing to fix the bugs. About the mouse, the support indeed has been deliberately removed at some time in the past, because of, surprisingly, low memory --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here
