I am finding a bunch of empty zips, but at least 40% have files in them.

Just for clarity ...
I'm fairly certain that rr (our BDFL) would disagree with links to "abandonware" here, which has dubious (if any) legal support.
While I vaguely sympathize, esp. for old historical software, it's just not justified. Even if I did agree, it wouldn't matter, the punitive arm of the law is quite strong. So even regarding a so-called good site (no ads, no donations) that limits itself to hosting 125 GB of minimum 7-year-old software with no current other way to purchase it, I'm afraid that I disagree with its validity or usefulness.
They do have some interesting versions of things on there, but a lot of it is already freeware (at least in equivalence) or similar: OpenGem, 4DOS, TC201, BCC55, TP55, FPC, FBC, OW, JWasm, Doszip, Info-Zip, Ytree, Chatzilla, Inferno, Plan9, OpenSolaris, PC-DOS (via Server Scripting Toolkit), EDR-DOS, WINE, HX Win32 emulation, etc.
Hence, I do suggest to focus more on freeware (or, even better, libre) software these days as we are quite lucky to have lots of goodies. There will always be oldies-but-goodies that you can't find, but it's not worth focusing too too much on them, it's just counter-productive (unless you want to search eBay or Amazon, which can be vaguely fun in its own right). |

You're absolutely right. Thanks for "fixing" the URL. --- Forum admin |

For clarity, the link I referred to IMPROPERLY is not
the link referred to in the first message any longer.
The sysadmin had to correct my mistake by editing my
message and providing a different link.
I am sorry for the confusion.

Is indirect linking to potentially illegal SW forbidden in germany?
Here I would say you're trying to be more holy than pope. OK, respect that, it's your forum. --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |
