Hello Japheth!
Glad to see you online again.
Does it mean that your projects are still alive and can be updated some day? --- DOS-u-akbar! |

All projects on Github are updated versions. There's a bin directory where you should find precompiled binaries. It's kind of prerelease, though. --- MS-DOS forever! |

Glad to meet you again.
Did anyone notice that GitHub (and Sourceforge, BTW)
cannot be accessed with any DOS-based browser ?
Indeed, not even wiht Win98 browsers, because they
updated to TLS 1.1 minimum, and no longer use http. |

That's a bit broad, saying it excludes literally every browser. I doubt you tested them all (just saying).

Yes, I noticed that our old (2008) Wget build stopped working on those two sites sometime after last November.
But newer (2015?) Wget build works fine, so does Links 2.16 (AFAIK). I haven't tried 2.17 yet, but presumably it also works. Also haven't tried latest DJGPP build of Lynx (which I don't normally use), but I assume it also works.
Yes, things change, some break, but not all hope is lost (yet?). |

My Retrozilla build for Win9x has TLS 1.2 support. |

Thank you for the hint. I missed this, because I hadn't
looked at that project in MSFN for more than 1 yr.
I hope i shall be able to post some comments there later. |

If you are nitpicking, you shall doubt whether anyone knows how many
Windows (or DOS) browsers exist. For number is finite, but can only
be estimated, not determined. So, the above assertion is practically
unprovable, but can be disproved in a straightforward way,
by showing one browser that works under Win98 and supports
TLS 1.2, exactly what Roytam did, and I am glad he did.
I have not yet tried Links 2.16 or 2.17 in my DOS machine, but do
not have high hopes, for even version 2.8 was too much for an old
computer -- a 486DX-50 with 16MB of RAM. |

PS- I think we are going astray of the subject of this thread.
So, I shall not post further on this here. If anyone thinks
the subject of DOS browsers that access current websites
is worth a new thread, we may continue indefinitely (as the
requirements continue to change). |

I didn't know about Retrozilla, an updated Mozilla for old Win9x come handy. But when I tried to view a Github page with it I just got an error:
RetroZilla can't connect securely to github.com because the site uses a security protocol which isn't enabled.
(now running it from WXP-SP3)
Under Win98SE it says:
RetroZilla can't connect securely to github.com because the SSL protocol has been disabled.
I can access Github via Links 2.17 from DOS. --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |

I am not questioning the importance of your HX software, but
I think HDPMI has a wider audience. Wolud you please provide
a separate HDPMI page, instead of bundling it with HX ? |

It seems that you're using official build of Retrozilla, not my build. |

Thanks. BTW the 1st link is missing the last "z" letter
Now Github is working, with an expected warning:
Please note that GitHub no longer supports old versions of Firefox.
We recommend upgrading to the latest Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox.
I tried also bitbucket, it loads but the page is rendered bad - too old Gecko core :( but better than nothing... --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |

RoyTam, I also want to thank you for the Pale Moon 28 XP build, esp. the DLLs mozavcodec.dll, mozavutil.dll that I used to replace in my Seamonkey and now the MP4/h264 video decoding works fine :) I hope you will help keep XP alive for some years :) --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |
