Dmidecode version 2.9 available (Announce) |
On 29 February 2008 I built a draft version of Dmidecode version 2.9 using djdev204/gcc423. Source code has been changed to ignore option `-d´. Instead it always reads from ROM.
For your convenience I include plain text documention generated from man pages.
Please give me some feedback about your results! Don't distribute this preliminary version!
Final version including source code and my changes is expected to be uploaded to DJ Delorie's FTP server then.
About: Dmidecode reports information about your system's hardware as described in your system BIOS according to the SMBIOS/DMI standard (see a sample output). This information typically includes system manufacturer, model name, serial number, BIOS version, asset tag as well as a lot of other details of varying level of interest and reliability depending on the manufacturer. This will often include usage status for the CPU sockets, expansion slots (e.g. AGP, PCI, ISA) and memory module slots, and the list of I/O ports (e.g. serial, parallel, USB).

It works very well on my system. Everything except Ownership.exe which writes nothing.
BTW: all the info strings (like Duron processor, Microstar motheboard, etc.) are prepared from BIOS or some vendor/product tables are used? --- DOS-u-akbar! |

Ownership.exe is for Compaqs only. Vpddecode.exe is for IBM's/Lenovo's only. RTFM

Dmidecode has string "Duron" inside, but there's no "Microstar".
PS: Are you still interested in getting FPC/DOS out? --- Forum admin |

OK:
1. Works
2. Sugg: use 8+3 UPPERCASE filenames
3. Lack of user-friendliness (obviously mostly from original source): should write a bit more ("This is for COMPAQT's only, seems you have none", "DMIDECODE 8.34 by blah | DOS port compiled by bttr 2008-03-15", ...), list options, rather than just silently abort or "bad commandline" --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here

Declined. Lower case file names are standard for DJGPP packages.

I guess, you no longer need my help with that, because you already succeeded in building FPC's IDE. Right? (Still have a December 2007 e-mail from you in my inbox, which I'd like to delete now.) --- Forum admin |

OK. It's just a plugin for D -> Putting on my ignore list.
P.S.: If you want to test your D on a new version of "DOS" with preference of such D-compatible filenames, I just found one for you: http://sourceforge.net/projects/lonics The devels are very friendly so you can mail someone of them about D ASAP --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here
