I agree that this is not optimal since it is taking far too long but I found that doslfn slows everything down a lot and you compiled p7zip with SFN as you write. So I think doslfn is the main reason for this long compile time. But I cannot compile Dillo with SFN.

I will try RDISK as you recommended too.

I cannot say I have no trouble with ./configure since the config file usually assumes XLib etc but I have used the configure program that comes with djgpp successfully on several projects.
