You misunderstood. I described how FASTBOOT behaves on my current machine, not how it was planned to behave.

I checked what actually happens in Jemm when Ctrl-Alt-Del is catched (no FASTBOOT). I does
- set a flag for soft-reset in CMOS ram
- set 1234h in BIOS 40:72h
- switch to real-mode
- far jump to F000:FFF0 (or FFFF:0000)

that's already what was proposed for altboot. It "should" work.
