Open Watcom 1.8 -- when? (Announce)

Have you heard anything about 1.8 beta 1? I've seen at least one person (on the OW newsgroups via Google Groups) mention it, and I'm inclined to wait until then to upgrade from 1.7a RC1. I know there is a DOS installer now and a possibly improved C++ compiler in the works, but I haven't seen anything about a possible timeframe for 1.8 to be released. (My guess is within the next 6 months to a year.) Here's hoping!
