unfortunately, there was never a INT 13h interface for CD/DVDs.
there IS a standard that MSCDEX/SHSUCDX use to access the hardware.

are you SURE about this?

MSCDEX is supposed to call some driver functions; not to do specific hardware dependent things.

hardware dependent things would be handled by a CD manufacturer-specific driver until later generic drivers like UIDE appeared.
