What can cause FAT damage - kernel 2039 or UIDE? (Users)

IIRC you have available a Windows98 system, so can you try it with MS-DOS 7.10? Personally I had no problems with it using my MS-DOS 7.10 systems, so I rather believe it is a FreeDOS kernel issue. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend FreeDOS for serious tasks, at least never to my friends. IMO FreeDOS is still "only for testing purposes".
