Blocek 1.5 released (Announce)

Hello!
It is difficult for me to find a motivation to work on code I wanted to leave already many years ago. However I missed a DOS program capable to view EXIF information in JPEG files so I've found some time in last three days and implemented it into my codebase.

So I release a new version of Blocek.
It is only minor update - except the Exif stuff are here only bugfixes.

Blocek 1.5:
+ now can display the Exif info in JPEG files and export the Exif data
- fixed few bugs which potentialy could lead to crash
- fixed some graph. glitches when changing the image viewer and text editor modes
- fixed "locking" of ALT and CTRL keys in some situation

Hi,
sorry to report this but blocek 1.5 crashed for me. Both in my standard DOS config and under DOSbox too. All it displays is:

Runtime error 3 at 0x0005D305
0x0005D305
0x0005DA76
0x0005F896
0x0005F8F0
0x00075BBB
0x0006F236
0x00002051

I tried both alternate binaries and they crashed silently. Could you reup ver. 1.4 (I replaced it before test)? EDIT: found mirror of 1.4 here http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/edit/blocek/
and it works under the same conditions.

Hello!
Are you sure you have properly extracted the archive with subdirectories .\FONTY and .\ALTERNAT and .\KEY_TBL ?

And did you do a new install or you did rewrite the previous version?
I tried now in the DOSbox on another machine and everything works OK.

Today I don't have access to my devel computer so I can't make a version with debug output for you.

Yes, I just unRARed the downloaded archive to a new directory (H:\BLOCEK) - no leftovers there. Total 72 files was unpacked. Under XP crashes too.
Maybe some hardcoded path that is valid only on your PC?

Ok, I am sorry, I found the problém.
It is a forgotten debug routine which tries to write into hardcoded path and file.
I will uploaded fixed version as soon as possible.

Hi! I released not only pure bugfix but it is other minor version with new features.

Blocek 1.5b:
+ now can display the Exif info in JPEG files and export the Exif data
+ can resize big images to optimaly fit the screen
+ can now properly display the semi-standard VGA fonts with used 7.bit in char definitions
- fixed few bugs which potentialy could lead to crash
- fixed some graph. glitches when changing the image viewer and text editor modes
- fixed "locking" of ALT and CTRL keys in some situations
- fixed typos in english messages

+ DOS GUI program
+ it can show UTFG-8 text, some images and EXIF data
+ can show WMF files (but not EMF ??)
- inconsistencies between source and binary packages, src "CWSDPMI.EXE" is old "HDPMI32.EXE" from 2006, "BLOCEK.CFG", many ".KTB" files
- in PASJPEG there are 5 ".BAK" files and 2 empty files
- clipboard does not seem to work ([CTL]+[1] and [ALT]+[1]), does nothing or even hangs
- [DEL] key pushed at beginning of line sometimes crashes
- "INFO.TXT" is outdated ("1.5b") and contains typos (in "KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS" some plus'es missing, managment -> management), and other errors, chapter "CHARSETS, UNICODE AND LOCALIZATION" is doubled

Is there a special reason why the source package does not have the same name as the binary package? Why not for example "BLEK1D5S.RAR" and "BLEK1D5B.RAR" ? Although I don't prefer RAR that much.
