The SemWare® Editor, a.k.a. TSE is freeware since 2022 (Announce)

(In case you missed the "news".)

TSE is available for Linux, Windows, and DOS, although the last release v2.50e for DOS is from 1997. You can grab it from the SemWare homepage. I also recommend visiting Carlo's TSE page for new stuff and TSE-Pro Files for old (<2012) stuff.

TSE is by no means perfect, but similar to Aurora, it has its own macro language that allows you to customize TSE to suit your individual needs.

Here's a screenshot from (near-standard) TSE running in a DOSBox Staging session displaying the source code to one of my little TSE macros:

Q.EXE was my first programmer editor. Borland Turbo-* and Q.EXE both used WordStar key bindings. I've since moved on to other editors but i think it's cool that development continued and TSE is freeware now.
