mplayer: looking for vidix drivers (Announce)

hi! ;)

I was using Quickviews as main videoplayer for my dos machine.

I found mplayer (DOS version) and I love it since it supports all the popular video formats available today.

Currently Im using VESA output but I would want to use hardware acceleration with vidix drivers.

my video card is a NeoMagic MagicGraph128XD (Integrated board on a toshiba libretto minicomputer).

I wonder if anyone have a vidix driver for this card ;)

I have never used vidix drivers but believe these links should help you:

Don't forget that MPlayer has vidix library integrated into EXE. It means, for support some new card you have to modify source and recompile it.

I thought that this vidix drivers works only under linux (some dependency on kernel functions) or does they work in DOS version of mplayer? I tested some build about 1 year old and it render through VESA and even needed to set VESA mode by external program before playing.

Use it with "-vo vesa:vidix", so that the video mode is set using VESA, whilst the rendering is done using the accelerated vidix drivers. The DOS port uses Mplayer's built-in "cvidix" drivers, no external drivers are required.

Aha, thanks for info. BTW unfortunatelly my sound card doesn't work with mplayer so I use QV anyway... But hope some day we have SB live/AC97 native support for mplayer...

Michael Kostylev has added some OSS audio support for his latest port, but as you know, he doesn't want to make it publicly available. Let's hope that someone friendlier will become interested in the project.

The latest that I have is dated 5-July-2008, SVN-r27185, the latest I'm aware of, the one with OSS audio support, dates from October 2009.

That is the latest I have, also.

But I would wish that Mik would allow newer versions to reach us from time
to time, even if they were released without sources, just so us DOS users
might just keep up with the rest of the world.

Actually sometimes he still makes some of his files available, but I don't know if intentionally or not. E.g. his latest MEncoder port publicly available was SVN-r29975, which if I'm not wrong dates from October or November 2009.
