IIRC, the prebuilt binaries are 1.6 only, so you have to get 1.7 beta from CVS (or whatever). I haven't heavily used ALINK, esp. not recently, so I don't know the ins and outs. Originally I think it was just meant to be a portable linker for use with NASM. But obviously, like I said, it seems to not have been developed since 2000 (11 years ago).

Anyways, here is the thread on news://openwatcom.contributors from two years ago (03 March 2010) where Mr. ALINK himself popped up (re: C++ and multithreading).
