Did that - no command window opened, got the NTVDM.EXE message.

No there is no entry for this Registry entry.

If so try setting as below:
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AppCompat\VDMDisallowed "=dword:00000000

Not sure how to do this :-(
