I've just checked Japheths VESAMTRR source code, and it includes a CPU and CPUID check (of course!), so there is indeed no problem about running VESAMTRR.EXE on machines with old CPU's. The original all-uppercase warning was copied from the FastVid docs, so it probably didn't have a CPUID check.

Bottom line: DOS386 is right, there is no danger, so I've changed GVFM's README.TXT accordingly. :-)
