I would be more optimistic: if you read the interview with Jim Hall:

you will know "There were more than 379,000 downloads of FreeDOS since the release of 1.1 in January last year, and there were more than 39,000 downloads of FreeDOS 1.1 in January this year alone.
These numbers are solely for downloads from the project's site, so the real number of people who have had contact with the system is likely higher."

Not bad, right?
