Interresting software for file/partion/disk restoration (Announce)

posted by RayeR Homepage, CZ, 20.04.2021, 04:17

I meant it was useless for my specific task at that time which was restoring an accidentally deleted video file from SD card. As I don't have any special SD-IDE adapter (neither I don't have IDE now) I just used my cheap USB card reader as usually and so I had to use Windows. I tried about 20 various restoration programs but video file was fragmented and any program was not able to restore more than a few seconds of video. Then I use recover_mp4 and manual hard work in hexa editor to restore fragments and finally get almost 100% of original video.
So I don't think DMDE would be generally useless. I just want to know if it has some significant advantage/unique feature that other tools like testdisk doesn't have (DOS version of testdisk can't open image file? How DMDE can handle large image files on FAT32 - splitting in multiple files?).

DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access.
