Endianness shouldn't matter unless your program directly accesses (network/file) structures which are transfered to other systems. With the CRT, you access files either in text mode or byte by byte (where you can simply add support to the code which directly reads and writes the file).

I'd assume either it works under WINE, or WINE provides it's own replacement.
