Well, OpenWatcom doesn't have a DOS installer. But you're correct, both support some of the same extenders. However, (and I've never messed with this aspect much), does OpenWatcom support C99? AFAIK, no, not officially, only very partially through (undocumented) -za99 whereas CC386 openly claims to support almost all of C99 (untested by me, just reporting what I heard). Anyways, CC386 outputs to .ASM, which goes to its hacked version of NASM. OpenWatcom outputs straight to .OBJ, so it needs WDIS to convert it to .ASM. But yes, CC386 isn't optimizing, and OpenWatcom is.
