Someone will never give up DOS because of such disputes, but when he strongly needs a certain functionality which DOS can't provide or when he finds an OS which has the same functionality as DOS plus some advantage.

On the other hand, fundamentally opposing views can't be reduced to a middle ground, and in the situations where such a middle ground could be reached, the result is usually worse than those obtained in case any of the alternatives would have been separately implemented. It is contradiction and strife which drives development and progress, if you tell me now that something great has ever been achieved by consensus, peace and harmony, my apologies, but you say bull****. So please try to understand the meaning of the discord - which separates, and of the wining view - which unifies, but never be worried (Matt 6:27). You can use whatever program you want, if you have trust in it. If it has quality and performance and satisfies your needs, you can say your choice was good and you are happy and on the right path. Besides, you have all the ingredients in front of you to cook whatever meal you like, in case the menu doesn't look good, so speaking.
