If I was going to pickup this request (which I'm not) then I'd probably port burncenter (or possibly just rewrite it). Burncenter is very readable and should be straight forward to port as it shouldn't need that many changes.

For anyone interested in picking up this request but who may be unfamiliar with Perl (I am), this is good short high level overview of a key Perl watch out.

The JaPH examples here help demo how unreadable some Perl is in comparison! Over to someone else to pickup.
