No, I'm talking about ZIP. "advzip -z4" optimized (recompressed) the .ZIP (via 7-Zip's improved Deflate) to save 2 MB without losing any compatibility. I only mentioned extra fields or comments in case somebody (???) needed those here (doubt it).

The point is that I consider the UPX'd-but-can't-unpack binaries "broken", so that's bad. But whatever, just wanted you to know that you're not stuck. FreeBASIC considers their own "stable" and has been tested, so you could always use those as default.

If someone on the dev team really cares and wants to discuss it (doubt it), let them e-mail me.

I never built the DOS compiler (failed) nor IDE (never tried) nor know anything about DPMI exceptions, plus my new-found Pascal skills are low. I thought you implied that these were deal breakers?? Or (better) you only need help with testing and formal releases? Color me skeptical. :-|
