There's now a Dec. 2007 version you could try. I think the resident option (APMDOS?) is suggested as best.

Also, you could try Throttle.

And finally, just for the record, I upgraded my BIOS on this laptop about two months ago, and it drastically changed the way the fan operates (intentionally). So, you may wish to try looking for such on your OEM's website, etc.
