NASM version 2.09 available | A86 (Announce)

Sure it's outdated. It hasn't been officially updated in ten years, it lacks anything newer than SSE1, it only runs on DOS, and it only outputs raw binary or OBJ/OMF. That's not enough these days (unless you only use DOS/OMF and don't need newer instructions). Not saying it isn't good, but admittedly it could be improved. NASM wins these days.

Part of the appeal (I think) for RxDOS was that it ran in little memory and fast, so that RxDOS could even run it too. Well, plus it was shareware, available everywhere (Simtel), unlike MASM. But RxDOS never took off, nor OpenDOS, only DOS-C because of the friendlier GPL license and C codebase (which was easier for the devs).
