Maybe, but:

1. if things worked in DOS you would not have to reboot
2. Windaube can boot fast if you remove some of the useless crap (and Firefox still works)

You are not pressured to support silly stuff like bidirectional communication with 3 monitors, BlueJunk or whatever just because "modern OSes" do
