Yes, less archive overhead (filename/path/date/timestamps...) as less entries.

Some people do... my historical viewpoint was if it doesn't need to be included don't include it. That said I'm kind of with you on this one.

Likewise. But there are times when doing that is still necessary, e.g: 256byte games / 4k/64k demo competitions or just good old hardware limits! :)

Glad you agree and importantly ZIP support is now integrated within later versions of Windows etc.

Nor should they providing you stick with the standard default "normal" settings. When people start using the maximum/extra compression options which are usually often program specific that is when the problems start.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't use those options myself at times, however I don't use them when distributing something that I want others to be able unzip :-)
