I'd take that one step further and say that the majority of folks online these days won't have even *ever* heard of ARC. Thom Henderson's statement on the death of Phil Katz is an interesting read, as is the BBS Documentary's entry on ARC vs ZIP.

Anyway you realize I was joking re my ARC ref, right? :)

Thanks. I still have a ton of code to deal with ARC etc from my SYSOP days. Indeed I'm thinking to open source lots of BBS related TP code, ANSI code etc.

You may be right but it might not have been the case when I last looked at it.

That annoys me a LOT. Was very useful back in the day and importantly if like me your a registered ZIP licensee the -AV stuff doesn't show up. Not that it matters much now days, but was annoying when it became more hidden.

Correct it was.

Useful info thanks.

I agree works well as I have use it myself in the past.

Btw guys, I feel we need to get this thread back onto the main topic. Still I think with collective responses have had a lot of good links to archive tools/info which will help Jason make up his own mind as to how to progress.
