Well, I hope that now it works with your ICH7 HDA card, and that using vesa:nodga will show something other than the black screen. I was referring to the fact that yes, I know that it doesn't support all the HDA cards, but many codecs require non-standard verbs or special initialization commands. For example ALSA uses specific configuration scripts and "patches" for supporting such codecs. Personally I will never add support for them, due to both lack of time and lack of interest.
