But you can change application data format to be incompatible with previous version this will isolate the user with old SW and after some time he will be forced to buy new SW+HW. Microsoft can teach us :)

2x fast only due to 64bit if used same MMX/SSE insctructions both on 32bit and 64bit CPU?

Of course not. But I also don't go to linux forum and tell them that e.g. linux on desktop is a nonsense because Windows have more intuitive GUI and generaly rules on 99% desktops...

I didn't want to compare their performance just point that 8-bit HW (C64, ZX...) are much easier than PC. Also the strictly HW standard of these computers is big advantege for programing kernel and drivers. PC is generic glued from many different parts so it's not such easy...

Yes. We do usually 4 for prototypes and send it to local PCB manufacturer simply because he is fast. If I send it to china I will see my board after ~3 weeks. We send there thousand batches.

I personally did only 6-layer with TQFP144 (0.4mm pitch) CPU and BGA 121 GSM module, still much less than real mobo. But now we are started to use microvias (LASER drilled) that helps the design a lot...

I think they also develop something I'll have to take a google translator and browse their forum when have a time...
