I went there:

RDOS source code is distributed as GPL

Not something I wish to get involved with.
May as well just run Linux+Wine.

Note that I actually contacted the author
of EMX asking him if he would be willing to
make his code public domain, and he said it
would be quicker for me to write my own than
convince him to make his public domain.

So 27 years or whatever later, here we are.

Neither. I just wanted to create a public domain
"base" so that others didn't need to start from
scratch.

It's normal to do market research before producing
a product, rather than the other way around, but
