I did not see a switch to allow me to unload SMARTDRV - I do not think /R (clears the cache and restarts SMARTdrive) is the same thing.

The reason why I want to uninstall SMARTDRV is that I think I will have to try hundreds of combinations for element/buffer size (which would only be valid for my system) to attempt to get near optimal settings.

I would prefer to uninstall rather than reboot hundreds of times.

Is it possible to add in code to uninstall? I had used a HEX editor to change the required 7 bytes as per updates.

I came across the GitHub FDOS site - and there are a number of cache programs. I thought I saw one that can be uninstalled. Even maybe not as good as the MS version - but if I assume that the element/buffer size codes are similar, this might help me with that optimization. I even saw one that can cache size go larger than 32M.

I am assuming that running cache at 32M has no detrimental effects on file transfer speedswhen compared to say 8M.
